Puppy Love: 5 Ways to Love Your True Valentine

Sure, us humans plan for romantic date nights, drinks with friends, card-making with kids, but what about our dearest and nearest Valentine’s...our beloved four-legged lovers?!

If you are looking for a great last minute way to show your dog how much you truly love them this Valentine’s Day, try one of these easy ideas and be sure to get a slobbery kiss in return!

1: Make an easy home-made/healthy tasty treat! We found this one from Healthy Dog Blog:

Doggy Fro-Yo Treat

Makes 12 (2 ounce) treats

2 cups of low fat, all natural Greek yogurt (no sugar, no additives)

1 medium banana

1/3 cup all natural, organic peanut butter

1 tablespoon honey

FIRST: Place all ingredients into a food processor and process until smooth, 2 to 3 minutes.

SECOND: Pour mixture into (silicon or paper) molds of your choice, place on a baking sheet and freeze, at least 1 hour.

THIRD: Remove fro-yo pops from molds and serve.

2: Surprise your dog with a new toy! Days at home, waiting for you (and our dog walkers, of course;)), to come and love on them can be tough. Show your pup you care by gifting them with something small to know you are always near!

Or you may also want to stop on your way home from work and support some of the DC local dog stores, such as:

Howl to the Chief

Doggy Style Bakery

3: Get creative and do a DIY photoshoot and take a picture of your favorite pup next to something red/pink/hearted etc for you to always remember your love for them!

Tip: Involve the kids, making a family/dog memory, and make a Valentine’s craft by cutting out a large foam (foam might be kinder than paper) heart head crown. Warning, your dog may not actually want to wear this, but it’s a fun way to make your dog feel like the center of attention on a special day! Or have the kids make a sign that says “free kisses” to put next to the dog in a picture!

4: Quality time. What says “I love you” more than some well deserved cuddle or play time with your favorite K-9?! Play a game of hide and seek with their favorite toy or tug-a-war! Spend time with your pup and they are sure to feel loved!

5: Lastly, take your dog for LONG walk! Don’t have time? Email us, Woof Walk DC to add a walk, gifting your dog with what they really want on Valentine’s Day! ;)
